Energy Saving: Meeting Notes 3rd April 2009
AlyBee — Thu, 23/04/2009 - 9:52am
Notes from the Energy Saving Meeting on 3rd April 2009.
Present : Alan, Rose, Sheila
Apologies : John
Other : Sorry to Chris for not collecting him.
Hotspot. A review of the hotspot campaign took place at EST/Changeworks office in Edinburgh, with Sitar and Jill. In that meeting, Sitar agreed to review houses that had signed up but had not been completed. Sitar has passed a list of all the streets where cavity or loft insulation had been done. It was noted that EAGA is still in town doing some work. Alan had marked up a map of the town with the streets where cavity wall insulation had been done to identify possible future focus zones where more could be done.
Action : Alan to also update the map with marks to indicate where the loft insulation had occured. (done).
We then discussed neighbourhood or house-2-house audits and agreed that this would be done after LCC members had been on City and Guilds Training course [Alan arranging for bulk training for interested LCC members.]. Sheila, Rose and Alan expressed interest in training, and Tania afterwards. Alan also to chase up on ID badges for those who might perform home visits in the future.
We then went on to talk about REAP-Petite software for carbon counting/pledge recording, and passed round a example of the survey form that is used to gather statistics about each household and also to record pledges of action. LCC now have a demo version of this software for review, and are talking to KSB and SDC to see if there's an opportunity for a discount. Currently £600 (although WLC will get a copy when they buy their full REAP licence).
Action : Alan to review REAP Petite and discuss with everyone.
Thermal Camera : This was loaned to Sheila to try out. Training in april is fully booked and we've requested a space on the next course in Aberdeen. but Alan is also talking to a local resident who used to run a thermal imaging business. He might be persuaded to give training for a small fee.
Action : Alan to follow up on thermal training.
Farmers Market : We discussed the idea of attending multiple FM's with a different theme each month [or 2x months]. This seemed favourable but needs discussed at steering to see broader interest and themes that could be covered. e.g. ECO driving / Composting / Insulation / etc.
Water Saving : It was noted that there's an opportunity to focus on waste water or bottled water. Discussion on water hippos, rainwater butt's etc.
Smart Meters : We have 3 working and 1 faulty which has been returned. There's also a plug/socket unit that can only measure one device at a time but it's very accurate and good for quick demonstrations. The 3 working smart meters have been given to the library for loan to library members through their booking system. Posters have been created to sit alongside the units for loan.
No date was set for the next meeting.
