Welcome to Linlithgow Climate Challenge
Next Meeting: Mon 12th January 2009 - Low Port Centre 7:30pm
This website acts as a hub for climate change news, campaigns and events in the Linlithgow area, providing a communications channel as well as advice and support to the community. We wish to work together to reduce our impact on climate change, cut our dependence on fossil fuels, relocalise our lifestyles and create a safe future for our children - please join us on our journey.
HOW MUCH GAS & ELECTRICITY DO WE CONSUME IN LINLITHGOW ?
Click on READ MORE to find out.
Using data supplied annually by power companies, we can report on the amount of electricity and gas that homes and commercial/industrial users consume per meter.
Below is a chart for 2005/2006 for Linlithgow North, South and Bridge. Note a slight downward trend but also that savings in the commerical sector are offset in some areas by the greater consumption at home. Detailed metrics for 2007 are due in February 2009.

Scottish and UK Government goals are to reduce our carbon emissions by 80% by 2050. This will be a steep curve initially as the savings will be harder to achieve in the later years. The challenge is massive, and we need to act now to insulate our properties, fit energy saving devices, and cut down on our energy hungry lifestyles.
